“Why Should My Local Authority Be Involved In An Overseas Project? Understanding the domestic impacts of local government involvement in international development”

“This study is about the domestic impacts – the principal benefits and challenges – of local government involvement in international development. The results may be used to provide guidance to local authorities considering establishing overseas links or those already engaged in overseas projects. The tracker study found a board range of benefits to links in the projects surveyed, as well key challenges emerging. The document conteins two sections: Section one, responses the following questions: What benefits have UK communities and Local Authorities Experienced?, What challenges have been encountered? How can they be overcome? The section two, has several case studies: Bradford-Mirpur (Pakistan); Croydon-Kungwini (South Africa); Swansea-Nantong (China) etc.”
